Precision Landing with DJI Phantom 4 Pro

Today we are going to take a look at the precision landing feature which was added via firmware in March 2017.

This new feature allows the drone to land very precisely in relation to its take off point, in some cases only centimetres away. This video runs through the basic need to know information and concludes with a field test of the feature.

I would say a landing pad is an essential bit of equipment to use the precision landing feature, especially as the software can be a little bit fussy in where it will land. If it senses that it is not quite perfectly level it will not precisely land. So having a perfectly flat surface is important and the landing pad helps with that.

Im fairly sure this will also work with the Mavic and Inspire and I hope the video has been of some help to you..

JJRC H37 ELFIE Foldable Mini RC Selfie Drone FLYAWAY

JJRC H37 "Elfie" foldable 'selfie' drone. Good form factor making it easy to carry anywhere, altitude hold, gyro control via phone sensors, decent range for wifi, about 5 minutes of flight time. Unfortunately, flew away on me. (8:05) Before commenting, please read!

⚑ Update 6/2/2017

Since uploading this video, it's received way more views and comments than I ever imagined. Thank you for that. I'd like to address some of the common points that have come up.

The important thing to take away from this experience is that if the connection to this drone is forcibly cut for ANY reason, it will keep going.

I watched Elfie for as long as I could get away from me. I never saw it just drop from the sky or even attempt to land itself. Even if the phone was still transmitting signal -- my iphones wifi range isn't that long to begin with. It should have disconnected and just fallen. I'm an experienced drone user and this is standard safety and general practice... JJRC has failed to do this.

✖ It does not matter what phone you use. Laugh all you want at the iPhone, but crashes or resets can happen with any phone on the market. When one does, your elfie WILL fly away.

✖ It doesn't matter if you turn off mobile data. Mobile data and wifi don't run on the same band at ALL. They don't interfere with each other. This is a myth.

✖ It doesn't matter if you forget your home wifi network. Ok, yes, it will definitely be better if you do this because when you fly the drone farther away from yourself, it will not drop the connection and reconnect to a "stronger" network nearby. Many have lost their elfie because of this, however, again, this would not be happening at all if it wasn't for the lack of a failsafe to begin with!

Bottom line:

This drone does not have a good failsafe (hence my screaming BAD FAILSAFE, BAD FAILSAFE). And some people are perpetuating lies or sugar-coating this issue just to sell this to you.

I do honest drone reviews. Do you want a drone that doesn't suck, won't fly away on you, but is around the same price of the elfie?

Man keine Vergrößerung einstellen, sondern fokussiert aufzunehmenden Gegenstand über einen drehbaren Tubus, Abstand Linse vom Sensor einstellt. Ist scharf, steht auch Vergrößerungsfaktor fest. Umgekehrt ändern, indem des Gegenstands zur ändert dann nachjustiert. Dabei muss sehr feinfühlig vorgehen, denn einer Umdrehung wird 2 bis 200 alles abgedeckt.

Insgesamt macht keinen hochwertigen, minderwertigen Eindruck, also Mittelmaß. Die Drehmechanik aufgeklebte Skala sind nicht gut.

Die Software funktioniert habe gleich neuste Version heruntergeladen mitgelieferte CD ignoriert.

Hätte gewusst, dass so gering wahrscheinlich gekauft, wenn höher deutlich teurer gewesen wäre.

Gimbal Settings on the DJI Phantom 4 Pro

This video provides a run through of the Gimbal settings of the DJI Phantom 4 Pro with a run down of what each of these settings within the DJI GO 4 App do.

The settings will also apply the regular DJI Phantom 4 and presumably previous Phantoms.

By default the settings that are configured for the gimbal I feel are too responsive and fast, to get the most out of the gimbal and footage I recommend tweaking these slower and smoother.

The video will show you how to do this as well as giving you some insight to what values you might want to use.

The settings I like to use are:

Pitch Speed: 18

Upward Tilt: Yes

Pitch Smoothness: 22

Synchronised pan: No

Parrot Skycontroller 2 review

The parrot skycontroller 2 review. In comparison to the 1st skycontroller this one is much more compact allowing me to pack it easier when touring on my motorcycle . The parrot bebop 2 can be flown only with the mobile phone and does not need a separate controller, however the range is not all that great. Thus I have decided to purchase the new skycontroller 2 because it is more compact and portable than its predecessor . I Did a small range test and already I can see the difference, much, much better doubling the distance with ease so I would definitely recommend. I will be posting more videos as I get used to pushing it more to the limits. Thank you for watching and enjoy.

Parrot Bebop 2 FPV Bundle - REVIEW

Parrot Bebop 2 FPV Drone ➜ more drone videos: - Subscribe for tech videos every week: have to admit, I was very impressed with how well this Bebop 2 flies! It's a very agile, nimble, precise flying quadcopter. The controller feels great in the hand, similar feel to an Xbox One video game controller. Plug in your phone, launch their app, and see a live video feed of the camera. You can record 1080p 30fps video, which IMHO is probably its biggest downfall. It's using Image Stabilization (no gimbal), which actually works impressively well a lot of the time, but the processed footage usually looked a bit noisy, muddy, and soft. I'm hoping in the next model, this camera will take a step up.

Lastly, the new Follow-Me feature is really fun to play with, and extremely accurate. I was able to go full-right-stick rotating around my subject while it kept subject in frame the whole time, where I walked or ran. I feel it's kinda weird they charge extra money (currently $20) just to unlock this app feature, but just know this going into it. (Though they offer a 15 day free trial.)

All in all, the current Amazon price is showing $500 for the whole bundle, which is actually a pretty good deal considering all the tech and fun drone experiences you can have.

DJI Phantom 4 Pro Flight Test Demonstration

This advanced video/photography drone comes with many more capabilities than similar type drones. Buy it here and use coupon DJI4Pa to get it for $1461.98 . This is a first in a series of demonstration flights that will examine the features and capabilities of the Phantom 4 Pro. This particular flight focused on simple low level flying and demonstration of the camera.

The below short list of pros and cons are limited to the features demonstrated or discussed in this video. Follow-on videos will expound on additional features and limitations of this quadcopter.

Pros

- Extremely stable and accurate flier with combined GPS and optical stabilization systems. Also includes dual compass and dual inertial measurement units (IMU) to stabilize GPS positioning. I got to admit that this is actually pretty cool and advanced as compared to other GPS controlled quadcopter.

- Excellent 20MP camera with stable three axis gimbal. Camera is capable of recording up through 4K @ 60 fps. Although wide angled view, there is virtually no fisheye effect.

- Includes 5 direction obstacle avoidance sensor systems, (dual optical and acoustic on bottom, dual optical front and rear, and IR right and left). However, with current firmware, only the front optical sensors are used for actual obstacle avoidance.

Cons

- Although the quadcopter and its camera can be entirely manually controlled via its controller, advanced features and telemetry information require use of the "DJI Go 4" app.

- DJI Go 4 app requires the use of tablets or phones with high end processors. It's very likely that you may need to also invest in a new tablet with this drone. In this video, FPV video view was very laggy and froze soon after takeoff. However, telemetry data and control features were still available.

DJI Mavic Pro is my new favorite quadcopter! Amazing!

DJI sent Barnacules Nerdgasm over their latest DJI Mavic Pro quadcopter and it absolutely blew away almost all of my expectations. We unbox the aircraft in my Nerd Cave & then take it to DirtFish Rally School where we have 300 acres of clear airspace to play around. Q) What was the little flickering hair during the ariel video?

A) It was windy and somehow a fiber got blown into the little dome and we didn't notice it on the small screen with the sunlight. Only noticed it during editing. The dome is removable for easy cleaning, keep in mind it was really windy and raining so not ideal conditions.

Q) Why didn't you show all the features of the aircraft?

A) The video edited is already 17 minutes long if I added all the footage it would have been over an hour. I'll do a follow video later if enough people want it.

Q) Why did you throw your Phantom 3 off the desk? Someone would love to have that.

A) I still love my Phantom 3, don't worry though the magic of video it landed on a pile of coats and was completely unharmed.

Q) Why didn't you test sport-mode?

A) To be honest the wind was blowing hard and I wanted to have more control over the aircraft. We will test sport mode on a calmer day but I'm excited to see how fast it goes since without sport mode it was still going very quickly.

Q) It's not 'May-vick' it's 'Maa-vick' you dumb ass.

A) Here in Seattle, WA I talked to about a half dozen people and they all called it 'May-vick' so I did also. Let's just call it a Western USA accent :D

Q) You're supposed to remove the clear dome you dumb ass.

A) I just contacted DJI and you're absolutely right. They claim the dome is to protect the gimbal when flying and not taking video or for transporting. The fact the clear dome came with a rubber cover made it seem obvious it's supposed to stay on the aircraft and is only removable to clean. You learn something new every day.

OK, drone pilots, the FAA has just issued some new airspace limitations we ALL need to be aware of... Using existing authority under (14 CFR) § 99.7 – “Special Security Instructions” – to address national security concerns about unauthorized drone operations over a current total of 133 military facilities. This is the first time the agency has published airspace restrictions that specifically apply only to drones. The FAA and DoD have agreed to restrict drone flights up to 400 feet within the lateral boundaries of these 133 facilities. The restrictions take effect on April 14, 2017, with limited exceptions. Chinese drone giant DJI is reportedly planning an entry into the drone selfie market, but it is not yet known what the aircraft will be called. Media reports suggest that DJI has filed a trademark application for the name "DJI Spark", but it has also been rumored to be dubbed the "Mavic Mini".
